On November 21st 2006, three police officers, Jason R. Smith, Gregg Junnier, and Arthur Tesler, entered the apartment of 92-year old Kathryn Johnston in Atlanta, Georgia, with a no-knock warrant, claiming that Ms. Johnstons apartment was used to selling cocaine (which was later found to not be true).
After the officers broke down her door Kathryn Johnston fired a warning shot with an old pistol she had. In return, the officers fired 39 shots, several of which hit the 92-year-old woman. The officers handcuffed Ms. Johnstons as she was dying on the floor of her apartment and placed three bags of marijuana in her apartment.
The officers were sentenced to ten, six, and five years in jail.
