On May 11th, 2020 a judge in Missouri overturned the conviction of Jonathan Irons, who spent 23 years of his life in prison as an innocent man.
In 1997, at age 16, Jonathan was arrested for burglary and assault. Although no physical evidence was found that linked him to the crime he was convicted to 50 years in jail by an all-white jury. The conviction was based on an unrecorded questioning of Jonathan by the police departmet. Jonathan Irons claimed his innocence.
With the help of WNBA player Maya Moore it was uncovered that the authorities had withheld a fingerprint report in 1998, which would have supported Jonathan's claim of innocence.
